Unfortunately I don't understand some of the things you said to me, I only know a few phrases so far. I'm in the process of learning the language, and am right now having a blast with the alphabet. I have heard the language a lot in various dialects along with Farsi and Urdu (both beautiful as well; if you like Urdu you should definately check out the band Niyaz). I'm taking a class on it in the Fall (missed the boat this semester as I just changed majors and only elementary arabic II is offered in Spring). I'm a history/secondary ed major with a focus in Islamic Studies and I've been interested in arab and persian culture for years so I'm familiar with many of the basics (it also helps that my neighbors are from Lebanon). But for now I am learning the alphabet with my neighbors' help, and will be learning Master-Standard Arabic in the fall along with the lebanese dialect. And for the reference, i'm a dude :P. How different is Urdu from Arabic, I know they both use the same alphabet, but with a different calligraphy style if i recall.
ohhh i m soooo sry! ok, ummm...just to be safe, i sed umm, how r u and wuts ur name, well u dont needa answer that, i just read ur username and thats gud enuf, and...i sed my names salma. so yes. ohhh iluv arabic! its kinda confusing cuz there r sooooo amny different ways of saying one english word! yes, I speak urru and i luvvv the band niyaz! i heard of em on NPR and just checked em out a year ago. i luv em! wow, ull rly enjoy arabic hopefully. ur interested in Islamic Studies?! may i ask y?! i dunno, my sis is taking islamic studies in her college, but like i dont see y since were muslim but yea. wut do u learn in this class? WOw, the alphabet! thats cool! i m not so good myself but well i guess i read arabic everyday so its not a biggie for me. lebanese?! thats sooo cool! i think its gr8 that u hav lebanese neighbors. ohh and abt that, i m sry! i rly dint mean to say that...oh god, i feel dumb but i msry! ok, just for the reference, at least i will say everything in the masculine form rather than feminine (i m used to saying ma ismuki or kayfa haluki cuz i talk to my sisters and such). yeah Urdu uses different calligraphy style. as for the language in speaking, its different just cuz the wrds r different, knowing urdu makes arabic sooo much easier and vice versa cuz they share so many similar wrds. and as in the alphabet, the calligraphy style is different. so yea...its sooo nice to meet sum1 who thinks arabic is cool!
